                                         When and where did it open?

The initial Bastian restaurant opened in 2016 in Bandra West, Mumbai, and its success subsequently resulted in its expansion to various places. Its new branches include Bastian – At The Top (Dadar), Bastian Beach Club (Juhu), and most recently, Bastian Goa (Morjim).

                                        Who is behind the restaurant?

Bastian Hospitality’s CEO and co-founder is Ranjit Bindra, with Shilpa Shetty as the co-owner of the hospitality brand and founding partner.

                                        Cuisine and Menu

Bastian is a “seafood-forward, globally inspired” restaurant that serves multi-cuisine food with a fresh twist—seafood platter, sushi, truffle pasta, and Asian-style bowl are extremely popular.

      The vegetarian and gluten-free options are also served on the menu.

Prices are usually ₹900 to ₹2,000 per dish, and the average person spends ₹2,000–₹2,500.

Bastian has two slots to operate each day—

Lunch: 12:00 pm to 4:30 pm

Dinner: 7:00 pm to 1:00 am.

Its new outlet in Dadar—Bastion at the Top—is sprawling over the 48th floor with 360° views of the city and collects revenues of ₹2–3 crore per night.

                                           History and Location

Origin: The initial Bastian was launched in 2016 on Bandra West, Linking Road.

Recent new locations: Bastian – At The Top, Kohinoor Square, Dadar (2025); Bastian Beach Club, Juhu; and Bastian Goa.

Change: In 2025, Shilpa Shetty made an announcement that the Bandra restaurant will now be converted into a South Indian eatery named “Ammakai,” while the Bastian brand will remain in new avatars.

Kung Pao Chicken Bowl: Fried chicken and rice in spicy Sichuan sauce.

Chef: Herman D’Souza (Executive Chef, Bastian Hospitality)

Chef Herman has more than 20 years of experience in cooking and has worked for various luxury hotels in Asia, Europe, and India. He specialises in modern coastal cuisine—a blend of local ingredients with foreign techniques.

His maxim is, “Every plate should tell a story of contrast—freshness, texture, emotion.”

His signature items, Truffle Pasta and Lobster Bomb, have been consistently lauded by food critics of Mumbai. Bastian has formed a consistent fine-dining brand from Bandra to Dadar under his direction.
